Shkoder is compact enough that location matters less than in a sprawling city - most areas are within walking distance of Rozafa Castle, the lake edge, and the main bus stop. Best areas to stay

City centre (Rruga Kole Idromeno) - The most practical zone. Cafés, restaurants, museums, and the main bus stop all within 10–20 minutes on foot. Lively evenings. Drawback: can be noisy on weekends, especially on or directly next to the main pedestrian strip.

Kole Idromeno Street - Ultra-central. Walk to the lake edge, Rozafa, and museums without a map. Best for food and nightlife access. Ask for a rear-facing room if noise is a concern.

Zdrale - Quieter residential neighbourhood north of the main roundabout. Popular with families and couples. 15–20 minutes walk to the centre. Easier parking; fewer late-night options nearby.
