Things to do here

The top-rated tours and activities here — all with instant confirmation and free cancellation on most bookings.

Budva’s activity list covers medieval old town, beach variety, water sports, and a string of good day trips along the coast and inland. All prices in euros (€).

Budva Old Town

Walk the Budva Old Town and Citadel

The walled old town sits on a rocky peninsula — the full circuit of the medieval walls takes 20 minutes and provides good views over the Adriatic. The Citadel at the south end of the old town has a library, a small exhibition, and the best views from the top.

  • Citadel entry: €2.50
  • Old town walls: Free to walk
  • Best time: Morning before beach crowds build; evening for golden-hour light

Churches in the Old Town

The old town has several medieval churches in good condition: the Church of Saint John (7th century), the Church of the Holy Trinity, and Santa Maria in Punta on the headland. All are small; the oldest date to pre-medieval foundations.

  • Entry: Free (some request small donation)

Beaches

Slovenska Beach

The main beach north of the old town — 1.6 km of sand, good for families and casual swimmers. The western end closest to the old town is free access; most of the beach has paid sun lounger and umbrella hire.

  • Sun lounger hire: €10–20/day
  • Best time: Early morning for free spots before 10am

Mogren Beach

Two sand coves south of the old town reached through a short cliff tunnel. Less crowded than Slovenska, more atmospheric setting. A short walk from the old town.

  • Entry: Free

Jaz Beach

A large bay 4 km north of Budva — one of the best beaches in Montenegro for both swimming and the setting (backed by mountains). Has hosted outdoor concerts. Quieter than Budva’s main beaches.

  • Getting there: Taxi (approx. €5–8) or local bus in summer

Sveti Stefan beach

The public beach at the causeway to Sveti Stefan island is scenic and accessible. The island itself is an exclusive resort, but the adjacent beach is open. A good half-day trip 6 km south of Budva.

  • Getting there: Local bus or taxi (approx. €10)

Water sports and tours

Sea kayaking and cave tours

Kayaking tours along the Budva coast include sea cave exploration — several caves are only accessible from the water. Half-day guided tours run from Mogren and Slovenska Beach.

  • Price: €30–45 per person for a guided half-day

Boat trips

Day trips by boat from Budva harbour connect to the Blue Cave, Our Lady of the Rocks (from Perast), and sometimes Montenegro’s coastal islands. Various operators on the harbour.

  • Price: €30–60 per person depending on route

Parasailing and jet ski hire

Available from Slovenska Beach in summer. Parasailing from around €40 per person; jet ski hire from €30 per 15 minutes.

Day trips from Budva

Kotor Old Town

The most popular day trip from Budva — 40 minutes by bus. The medieval walled city, fortress walk, and bay views justify a full day.

Sveti Stefan

The photogenic island village 6 km south — stop at the viewpoint on the coastal road for the classic photo, swim at the adjacent public beach.

  • Getting there: Bus or taxi; 15 minutes

Lake Skadar

Montenegro’s largest lake and one of Europe’s most important wetland areas. Boat tours through reed channels with pelicans and herons. About 45 minutes from Budva.
